 Project at a Glance

At Miramar College, drilling of 400-foot deep test wells is underway to help us determine the feasibility of using geothermal energy as a resource for the heating and cooling of future projects on campus. Because the earth absorbs and stores much of the energy it receives from the sun as heat, underground temperatures remain fairly constant. A geoexchange system can use this energy source to economically heat and cool almost any type of building, using a pump to store the energy as it’s cooling, and extract it when it’s heating. "'Green' Gym Opens At San Diego Community College | KPBS.org"

The San Diego Community College District hascompleted a makeover of a gym on its downtown campus. The new facility is notable for its use of the latest energy efficient technology. The $11 million project involved major renovation of the two-story gym which was built inn 1964. Read more...
