Contractor Outreach

The San Diego Community College District’s (SDCCD) $1.555 billion Propositions S and N construction bond program is providing for new teaching and learning facilities, major renovations and campuswide infrastructure projects at City, Mesa and Miramar College campuses, and the six Continuing Education campuses.  The program includes approximately 80 projects that allow the District to build today for the educational and economic future of San Diego.

To make sure local businesses are informed of job opportunities provided by the construction program, the district has a Contractor Outreach program in place.

The Mission of the San Diego Community College District’s Propositions S & N Contractor Outreach Program is to:

Diversify the contracting workforce by providing opportunities for small, disadvantaged or historically underutilized businesses that lead to success and progressive, sustainable growth.

Overview

The key goal of the Outreach Program is to encourage local businesses and contractors to bid on contracts for the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). The District is committed to working with local business, community groups and trade associations to provide meaningful opportunities for small or disadvantaged businesses to work on Propositions S & N projects.  The District will work to make sure that local contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other service providers are aware of and have every opportunity to participate in these projects.

Plan Rooms for Viewing Contract Documents

In an effort to provide construction job opportunities to all members of the community, the District will provide plans and specifications to plan rooms throughout the county for contractors, subcontractors, vendors and other service providers to view the contract documents free of charge.

Seminars and Workshops

The District will conduct seminars and workshops to provide information on upcoming projects, provide guidance on the types of technical assistance is available and how to access such assistance, and provide an opportunity where subcontractors and prime contractors are able to network and exchange information.

Contractor Opportunity Notices

Outreach information will be posted on the SDCCD construction program website to inform small businesses about the opportunities and resources available with the District. Press releases, notices in community-based publications and trade periodicals will also be utilized to make sure that the local contractor is aware of project opportunities, outreach seminars and workshops.
