The San Diego Community College District has embarked on a $685 million dollar capital improvement program. This program includes 70 modernization projects and new construction that are at all three of the Districts main campuses as well as the Continuing Education Campuses located throughout the City of San Diego. Since this program will be performed throughout the City of San Diego, the district is working to ensure that local small businesses, which represent the diversity of San Diego, are included in these business opportunities.
The District is committed to making sure that the local businesses are kept abreast of contracting opportunities on projects funded by proposition “S” and “N”. In order to maintain an open line of communication with interested contractors, contractors may consult the Master Project List and the Calendar of Events. These can be helpful tools for subcontractors and suppliers to make sure they know when to prepare bids for projects at the District. The District is committed to meeting with you and your organization to answer your questions about the program as well clarifying different aspects of the program. If you would like to have a presentation for your group or have any remaining questions please contact Hameed Abdur-Rahim.
Plan Viewing Sites
In order to ensure all members of the community can find out about the details of projects the District will be sending the plans and specs to plan rooms through out the San Diego Community. These contractors can view the plans and specs without having to purchase them. By removing barriers that obstruct small businesses, the District seeks to increase the pool of qualified firms bidding on Proposition “S” and “N” construction projects. Click here for the list of plan rooms.
Vendor’s List
Because the funds for Proposition “S” and “N” come from the local community, we encourage all contractors to utilize local vendors and suppliers. Local businesses are defined as those located within San Diego county. In order to make it easier for contractors and suppliers to do business together we are encouraging small local businesses to sign up with the District's Community Outreach Collaboration Team. The contact person for the Community Outreach Collaboration Team is Hameed Abdur-Rahim.
Contractor Opportunity Notices
The District is currently in the process of redefining its Outreach approach. The Contractor Opportunity Notices will not be available until the new strategies are unveiled. Therefore look for more information to come. In the meantime please refer to the Calendar Of Events and the Master Project Listing.
